A
landmark in Ormond Beach because of it's welcoming gazebo, Coral Sands
has long been recognized as a great family destination.
During 2007 it was reported that the condition of the concrete,
especially at the east exposure was suspect. We advised that a
structural engineer should be employed to specify materials and create a
design repair, which would be agreeable to the local building
department.
It was found to be more economical to remove complete sections of the
existing slabs, as the rebar was badly corroded. In addition,
steel electrical conduit was uncovered and found to be similarly
corroded. The project was phased over several months to allow the
resort to be open for previously planned committments.
Overall it was a very successful project with the owner installing new
rails to further enhance the building. |
